Beautiful cakes make every event special, especially weddings. Many couples creating their weddings today choose alternatives to a traditional wedding cake. However, we beg to differ and love the tradition of a beautiful cake to cut and serve.

We have been following Julia Fedorova for her cakes and unique background story. It is heart warming story and we want to share it with you!
ABOUT JULIA: She is the owner and creative designer of Julia Fedorova Cakes and here is her story.
From the town of Luhansk in Ukraine, here is her story.

I have lived in US for less than two years. This city is known to the world because of the war with Russia.
I grew up in an old house with my grandparents. My grandmother was great baker and my grandfather loved his flower garden.
I fell in love with my classmate at school and got married. We studied together at the university and then became parents. Each day was full of new emotions and experiences. It was truly an amazing time in our life. After graduation my husband started his own business and I helped him. I began to take culinary master classes in Austria, France, Italy and Turkey and every weekend I baked for my family something delicious.

Then in 2014 the war began in our country. We miraculously survived a shell that hit our house and were forced to flee. We lost all we had, but saved our family.
We moved to the US to start a new life and I wanted to bake something more sophisticated.

When I found a book on the Internet about sugar flowers, I decided to mix my love of baking with my love of flowers and practiced my skills every day.

Then I entered the New York Cake Show. As I love Central Park, I made a cake to represent the park. I placed third in the show and received so many compliments  I decided to start my own cake business! The second cake in from the right is mine!

With the support of my family I will be opening my first bakery in New York City in November! My husband is my biggest fan and harshest critic. We are still a good team and very much in love which makes a successful combination!

ABOUT THE CENTRAL PARK CAKE:

Julia Fedorova Cakes-Marrying-Later-In-Life

Julia wanted to show the soul of NYC. She made flowers with the most popular wedding flowers and flowers growing in Central Park.

The rest were famous places where couples in love would meet.
The central figures of the lower layer symbolize the beginning of love. The entrance to the Delacorte Theatre is guarded by Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet depicts the lovers as they are about to kiss, with Romeo bending over Juliet whose head is thrown back. The simplicity of the sculpture lends additional innocence to the moment.
Ladies’ Pavilion is a lovely spot for a meeting boasting stunning views of The Lake and Lake Boat Landings. It is located in a more secluded area of Central Park.
Belvedere Castle has a name fitting to a “beautiful view” in Italian, and is where the weather is often broadcast for New York.
Conservatory Water This area is popular with families and children because of the famous climbing sculptures, the story-telling programs, the model boats and the café. It is good place for dreams about family life.
Loeb Boathouse is for visitors to rent rowboats, hire an authentic Venetian gondola, or dine with views of the Lake. Boating on the lake has been a popular pastime from the Park’s earliest days.
Bethesda Terrace was conceived as an ornate interior that would act as a patio with an open terrace and  to the lake. Rising from the terrace is Bethesda Fountain, with the famous Angel of the Waters statue on top. The Angel was blessing the Pool of Bethesda and giving it healing powers. I think, you will agree with Julia that love has a huge power for healing.
Horse-Drawn Carriage The horse-drawn carriages of Central Park are a unique activity reminiscent of a past age when carriages were the only form of transportation for moving through the busy streets of New York. Now they remain an important part of the romantic atmosphere of Central Park.
Sheep Meadow Long ago it was the home of a flock of purebred sheep. Now it is largest lawn for people with amazing view of the Plaza Hotel.
The upper layer has the pattern of Bow Bridge which is popular with newlyweds. One of the most iconic Central Park landmarks, it provides stunning photo opportunities for wedding ceremonies and photography. I made the flower pot with the same bouquet which I saw in Central park two weeks before NY Cake Show.
