French women have always been the epitome of beauty, fashion and style. And it all seems to be done so simply without much effort. Do you agree?
So what seems to make these little details so chic? A scarf thrown carelessly around their head or neck, a simple flip of hair on one side, the drama of red lipstick at night with very pale skin or embracing the natural beauty of their facial flaws such as a larger than normal nose for their face, a gap in their teeth or an unexpected mole on the side of their face. A French woman would indeed acknowledge it as a beauty mark!
So what are some secrets do they have to share with us as Americans? So longing to be the beauty they see reflected in fashion magazines or with starlets on tv. For a plastic surgeon, some women flock to them wanting Jennifer Anistons nose, Catherine Deneuve’s face and so forth. And some women are never satisfied with a quick fix, but instead want more and more.
What happened to growing old gracefully?
My mother seemed to exude beauty and elegance with keeping everything natural. Barely a spot of makeup any day of the week, her skin always glowed.
You saw the woman behind her skin instead of heavily laden makeup and all that goes with yearning for a certain “beauty” look.
And a French women’s hair? They love to be sophisticated but not follow a particular style that portrays a look that is trendy at the moment. French women tend to not wash their hair every day and they prefer more natural hair products avoiding anything that might be too heavy for their hair or scalp.
They believe that if your hair is clean and shiny, it is just gorgeous.
Wearing classic and chic clothing and spending your money on expensive shoes and belts was always a message from my mother. And, with great care and maintenance your clothes and shoes would almost never go out of style. That is unless you buy the latest trend, then in a year or two that style would have had it’s day in the sun. And the French start young, teaching their children the art of simple fashion.
I must admit our children refer to me as Imelda Marcos because of my vast collection and love of shoes, but it is a collection built over many years.
So what can you take away from this post?
Just this…A French woman’s beauty approach is all about
subtlety and elegant details, which are always key trends for every season.
A French woman always appears chic. Why? They start with good skin care and cleansing habits balanced with perfectly moisturized skin.
Never a heavy makeup look on the French, instead only light foundations, tinted moisturizers or simple highlighters. All a French girl’s best friend!
Just remember the old saying from advertising…”Keep it simple!”
We hope you have enjoyed this post and take away little bit of ‘French” for your everyday style!
And please come back soon!
